@Loster21’s Tweets O’ the Day for January 23, 2010 SPECIAL EDITION: Damon Lindelof and Simon Pegg

LOST Co-creator/Executive Producer/Writer Damon Lindelof was in rare Twitter form today, partly in response to the tweets of Simon Pegg (Scotty in the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie, star of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz).  It was an hilarious exchange, worthy of its own Tweets O’ the Day Special Edition post:

Simon PeggSimon Pegg simonpegg@DamonLindelof Damon I heard that the smoke monster is the ghost of Locke’s father’s brother who is Jack and Hurley’s son’s mom. Y/N?

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof@simonpegg WHO TOLD YOU THIS!?!? Someone is getting SO fired.

Simon Pegg simonpegg@DamonLindelof I got Abrams drunk

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof@simonpegg Lie. It is impossible to get an android drunk.

Simon Pegg simonpegg@DamonLindelof Touche. Seriously though, the island is the product of a cheese dream experienced after Jack Shepherd ate a whole Edam. Yes?

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof@simonpegg Incorrect. The actual cheese which birthed the dream that created the island? Camembert.

Simon Pegg simonpegg@DamonLindelof Aarrrrrrggghhhhhhhh! Curses! I knew it was cheese though.

Behind the Scenes with LOST Editor Mark Goldman

First published 2/18/10 on LOSTblog  http://lostblog.com/2010/02/18/behind-the-scenes-with-lost-editor-mark-goldman/

Last night on Twitter I was lucky enough to find myself exchanging direct messages with Mark Goldman, LOST editor and director of “LaFleur,” whose prior credits include Editor on ‘Angel.’  He graciously answered a number of my questions about the process of getting a LOST episode completed, and agreed to allow me to post our conversation.  It all started when he found out about the Tweets O’ the Day Mark Goldman Special Edition – a post which came about because, again, he is so generous with his time and fan questions.

Mark Goldman mjgoldmanMy special edition… Without question, a first for me personally. :)
Erin Willard Loster21 – You’ve been so generous with your time and tweets, they’ve been really interesting and much appreciated, thank you so much!
Erin Willard Loster21 – So if you wouldn’t mind one more, are you generally working on one ep at a time, or several in different stages of completion?
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – We’re ALL working on several eps right now. Last fri, Dam/Carlton & I locked 608, then watched 611 & took notes. I also got dailies for 614!

Mark Goldman mjgoldman – All the editors have 2 of 3 shows on their plate.
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – The Producers have it worse: plotting the finale, writing 15&16, viewing dailies of 14, cutting 11, checking Vis FX on 10, 9, 8 etc; Phew!
Erin Willard Loster21 -And when an ep is locked, it’s completely finished? How soon does that need to happen before air date? … Do you have a target date, besides obviously May 23, to be completely finished?
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – The picture for the finale has to be locked by end of April for snd and vis fx to get everything done for 5/23 airing.
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – “Locked” refers to no more picture changes; sound stage can’t start till pix locked. They need MIN. of 5 days per ep just to cut fx . . .
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – …record & cut ADR, record foley, clean production dialogue, & other things I don’t even know about. Then ~3 days mix — we’re a big show.
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – Double that for 2-hr ep. Vis fx also working on their jobs at this time. Roughly roughly 4 wks from pix lock to air date, if all goes well.
Erin Willard Loster21 – So will you be completely done at the end of April, or still lurking for emergencies (which I’m SURE won’t occur)?
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – There’s usually a few things after finale; recutting it to fit 2 1-hr slots for syndication, for ex. I’ll be on a little longer but not much
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – . . . barring emergencies, of course.
Erin Willard Loster21 – Let’s just do that. Bar emergencies I mean. Was it this hectic on Angel?
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – Sometimes, but not as often. That is, schedules usually weren’t as tight — but all the same steps had to get done.
Erin Willard Loster21 – Loved your commentary on my second-favorite episode (the pilot being my first, sorry) The Constant. Any planned for s6?
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – If they ask me for commentary, it’ll be a pretty special ep. So we’ll have to see how they turn out!
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – But I’d love to do it.
Erin Willard Loster21 – Thanks again!
Mark Goldman mjgoldman – You’re very welcome.

Wow.  As I would say on Twitter, the man is just the coolest of coolios.  Thanks to Mark Goldman on behalf of LOSTblog for allowing us to post this great information, and on behalf of LOST fans for once more taking the time to give us a glimpse behind the scenes.

@Loster21′s Tweets O’ the Day Pre-Finale Edition

Though it sickens me to say so, it is Last New Lost Day today.  Not Last LOST Day, because rewatches and other events like the DVD/BluRay release, etc., will certainly be eligible to be called LOST Day, but as it’s the series finale tonight in the US, I wanted to post one more pre-episode Tweets O’ the Day to help us all through.  As always, tweets from LOST production will appear in red.  If you want to see who in LOST production is tweeting, you can see all of their Twitter names here.  You are also free to follow my Twitter list of LOST production people here.  Some of those LOST production tweets were missed in my last regular post, so we’ll start with those.  The first two make sense if you watched Jimmy Kimmel on Friday.  Well, maybe not the second one.  Anyway, these are almost entirely posted in the order in which they were, well, posted:

@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day #ThanksToLost Special Edition

Thanks so much to Jami Losurdo – jami674 on Twitter – for starting the #ThanksToLost hashtag on Twitter, and getting the word out to the blogs and sites so that we could all help get the word out to the Twitterverse!  For those who don’t know, using a “hashtag” (a # sign in front of a word or words with no spaces in between) makes it easy to follow a Twitter stream of everyone who uses that hashtag.  It was SO FANTASTIC to read all of those tweets over the past few days!  #ThanksToLost Day was meant to be only Friday, but it was too great an idea to keep to just one day.  The tweets I’ve included below are some of my favorites from Friday and Saturday, including a few from stars of the LOST blogging universe, and even Kris from the Official Podcasts (since he’s with LOST production, his tweet is in red). Keep tweeting #ThanksToLost tweets and I’ll include them in upcoming Tweets O’ the Day posts. Enjoy!
@jami674#ThankstoLost for making Thank You to Lost Day so successful around the world! Let’s keep tweeting all w/e. 6:12 PM May 21st
